This module identifies some federal laws that prohibit sexual harassment as well as specific training requirements in certain states, protected actions, and retaliation.

Being an Active Bystander

This module covers the four forms of bystander intervention and provides tips on how to step in during a situation.

Gender Identity

This modules covers some basic terms and provides general guidelines to help avoid common errors in addressing gender identity in the workplace.

Sexual Orientation

Covers challenges that LGBTQ+ communities face in the workplace as well as some actionable tips for those looking to be stronger allies.


This module defines the Pregnancy Discrimination Act and discusses how pregnancy-related discrimination and harassment can appear in the workplace.

New York

Covers New York-specific laws around harassment, including the NYSHRL, reporting to the DHR and CHR, and pregnancy and gender expression protections.

Understanding Hierarchy (managers only)

This manager-focused module explores the nuances of workplace hierarchies and provides tools for effective mentorship and equitable feedback.

Is sexual harassment training required in New York?

As of October 9, 2019, all employers should have provided sexual harassment training to all employees located in New York State, and must provide sexual harassment training to all employees each year going forward. As of January 11, 2020, the sexual harassment training requirement in the New York City Human Rights Law (NYCHRL) was expanded in scope to include not only employees and interns, but also independent contractors and freelancers.

Ethena’s New York Harassment Prevention training course was created specifically to address the needs of businesses in New York State and New York City. It meets the requirements of New York Labor Law Section 201-g and New York City Local Law 96.
