Why is harassment prevention training in Maine important?

As of January 1, 2021, Maine law mandates that employers with 15 or more employees must provide sexual harassment prevention training to all employees within one year of their hire date. This training must cover topics such as the definition of sexual harassment, examples of inappropriate behaviors, reporting procedures, and the consequences of harassment. Furthermore, supervisors and managers are required to undergo additional training on how to prevent and respond to harassment effectively.
