If you’re in compliance, you're familiar with the day-to-day pressures: deliver training that meets regulatory requirements, keeps up with policy changes, and still somehow respects employees’ time. But what if the real bottleneck isn’t the training itself — it’s how hard it is to customize?

That’s the key finding from our latest survey, Is Your Compliance Training Program Working for You?, conducted in partnership with Compliance Week. We asked 134 compliance, risk, and HR professionals across industries — from financial services to healthcare to government — how their programs are really performing in 2025.

The message? Organizations want smarter, faster, and more cost-effective training customizations.

Top takeaways from the 2025 State of Compliance Training Programs Report

  • Customization delays are holding teams back. Nearly two-thirds of respondents said it takes a week or longer to implement course edits with their vendor — a major issue when compliance needs to move as fast as regulation.
  • Training is taking too long — and leaders are feeling the pressure. One-third of respondents said their training programs take employees five or more hours to complete. It’s no wonder 46% of respondents reported feeling pressure to shorten training time.
  • Vendors aren’t keeping up. Many providers still offer static, one-size-fits-all courses, even for highly regulated industries. As Susan Divers, noted compliance expert put it: “They give the same product whether you’re a billion-dollar company or a $2,000-a-year startup.”
  • AI is emerging as a game-changer. From instant translation to same-day edits, AI is enabling companies to customize faster — and at a lower cost.
