Ableism

Ableism is a form of discrimination or prejudice against individuals with disabilities, rooted in the belief that people with disabilities are inferior to those without disabilities. It manifests in various ways, including negative attitudes, stereotypes, and systemic barriers that limit access to opportunities, resources, and social inclusion. Ableism can be both overt, such as denying someone a job because of their disability, and subtle, like assuming a person with a disability is less capable or needs pity. Addressing ableism involves challenging these biases and creating a more inclusive and equitable society.
